History

The White Rose University Consortium (White Rose) was formed in 1997 to optimise the combined resources of the three Yorkshire Universities, Leeds, Sheffield and York.

We have a proactive approach to developing collaborative partnerships and to securing funding across a variety of areas and academic disciplines.  The critical mass we have achieved since our foundation should not be underestimated and we are proud of our achievements to date. We have worked hard to build a culture of excellence and learning throughout the consortium, to continue to stimulate growth and be a centre of distinction for research and enterprise, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Together we can achieve more and our goal is to be as proactive as possible to secure large-scale projects for our stakeholders, universities and the region.

Our focus and determination to bring investment to the region has seen us collaborate with Yorkshire Forward to develop winning regional projects such as the contract to run and build the government’s National Science Learning Centre in York.
