Gregory Radick –  Project Lead  (Leeds)

Tom Baldwin (York)

A project being co-ordinated by Dr Greg Radick from Leeds is taking advantage of existing international connections to forge opportunities for White Rose researchers. Dr Radick recently founded a network of researchers from the UK, USA, Germany, Italy and France, examining issues around patenting in the biosciences. The new White Rose IPBio project will bring together expertise in law, sociology, philosophy, natural sciences, and the history of science, to place the White Rose Universities at the centre of this international grouping. “There’s a lot at stake in making sure that we as a society get it right when it comes to property rights over biological knowledge,” says Dr Radick. “What’s needed is interdisciplinary collaboration, involving just the kinds of people we have across the three universities.”
